#187 – Beef Paprikash & Old Fashioned Coffee Cake

Beef Paprikash

  • 3 to 4 onions, chopped
  • 2 Tbsps. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 – 1 1/2 lbs. cubed beef
  • 4 cubed potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Dumplings
  • 2 cups flour
  • 5 eggs
  • Pinch of banking powder

Simmer onions in shortening until tender; add paprika. Add cubed beef, let simmer until no longer pink. Add 8 cups water and salt to taste. Add potatoes; cook until tender. In a bowl, mix ingredients for dumplings. Using a teaspoon, spoon small amounts of dumpling dough into boiling water. Let cook until the dumplings rise to the top.

Old Fashioned Coffee Cake

Batter:

  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/8 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Topping:

  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsps. cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup butter

Butter Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup cream
  • 3 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Dash of salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. For cake, cram sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; mix well. Add flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Pour batter into a 9 x 13 cake pan. Combine topping ingredients in a separate bowl. Spread over cake batter and use a knife to swirl into the batter. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. For butter sauce, add all ingredients to a medium saucepan or microwave safe bowl. Bring sauce to a boil and pour over cake.

Google Deleting Unused Accounts

Recently, Google announced a change to its inactive account policies. Starting in December 2023, accounts that have been inactive for two or more years will
